About

The Northwest Regional Library System (NWRL) connects libraries in Franklin, Lamar, and Marion counties of Alabama. There are currently eight member libraries in the system serving nearly 55,896 people. The NWRL was created in 1961 as a way for rural public libraries to share information and resources. The basic dynamic of a NWRL System membership is simple, yet the results can be powerful: a public library agrees to certain membership requirements, including the agreement to serve all system residents equitably; in return, the NWRL system provides a wide range of primarily local and state-funded services that enhance library service. Membership in the NWRL System brings benefits to libraries and their patrons.
